Roscoe Foy Young, Jr. June 15, 1928 - Nov. 6, 2013 Roscoe Foy Young, Jr., 85, died Wednesday afternoon, November 6, 2013 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.

 

He was born June 15, 1928 in Stokes County to Foy Roscoe Young, Sr. and Mamie Moran Young. Mr. Young was an avid outdoorsman and an award winning coon hunter. He loved playing golf and farming and was retired from Stokes County Animal Control. He served his country proudly in the US Army. Mr. Young was a true war hero, earning the rank of Master Sergeant early in his military career. He was a Purple Heart recipient as well as the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star and Combat Infantry Badge. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove.

 

A 2:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove with Rev. Jim Cohn and Rev. Johnny Lord officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Grant Young; two older sisters and five brothers.

 

He is survived by his wife, Juanita Hylton Young of the home; two sons, Stephen Young and wife Kathy of Charlotte and Joel Young and wife Martha of Walnut Cove; daughter-in-law, Marty Young of Walnut Cove; seven grandchildren, Chrissie Young, Sarah (Chad) Faulkenberry, Jake Young and fiance, Helen Reed, Zac Young, Matt Young, Kate Young, Caroline Young; two great grandchildren, Cayden and Clayre Faulkenberry; two sisters, Laura Y. Smith of Kernersville and Roxie Y. Smith (Tommy) of Walnut Cove.

Walnut Cove Dec. 22,1929 - Nov. 19, 2015 Juanita Mae Hylton Young, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday night, November 19, 2015, at Walnut Cove Health and Rehab Center. Mrs. Young was born on December 22, 1929, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Frank C. and Clyde Marshall Hylton. Juanita grew up in Stuart, VA, and the family moved to Walnut Cove where she attended High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Juanita was a member of First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove. She was retired from RJ Reynolds with 39 years of service, and she was the only employee at Brook Cove that worked every day that the plant was open, from the first day to the last! Mrs. Young was very active in the Walnut Cove Public Library expansion. A 2:00pm funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove with Pastor Jim Cohn and Pastor Johnny Lord officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years: Roscoe Foy Young, one son: William Grant Young, two brothers: Joe and Gray Hylton, and one sister: Sue H. Mitchell. She is survived by two sons: Joel Young (Martha) of Walnut Cove, and Stephen Young (Kathy) of Charlotte, seven grandchildren: Chrissie Young, Sarah Faulkenberry (Chad), Jake Young (Helen), Zac, Matt, Kate, and Caroline Young, three great grandchildren: Cayden and Clayre Faulkenberry, and Arthur Young, one daughter-in-law Marty Young, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend and caregiver: Jean Lampley. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Walnut Cove. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Walnut Cove Health and Rehab Center for their care and compassion.
