Dave was going to plant some wheat one year and he went to Jim Young to use his wheat drill. They argued back and forth about the price of $0.50 or $1.00 per acre to use it and finally Foy stepped in and told Dave that they would just go to town and buy a wheat drill.

Mrs. Lucy Mae Fowler Young, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, early Wednesday morning, November 18, 2015, at her Home.

Mrs. Young was born on June 5, 1919, in Stokes County, to the late Willie Martin and Pearlie Mae Blaylock Fowler. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. Lucy was a long time and devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she served as piano player, Sunday school teacher, and sung in the choir. She was retired from South Stokes School with 13 years of service, after her retirement she went to work for Hicks Pharmacy for many years. Lucy loved going to the mountains and doing the search and find puzzles, was an excellent seamstress, quilter and crotchetier, and listening to Bluegrass music. She was a member of the Rosebud Home extension club.

A 4:00pm funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Heitman and Mr. Jeremy Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: David Wesley Young, and one infant brother.

She is survived by one daughter: Willette Browder and husband James of Germanton, four grandchildren: Michelle Mabe (Friend Jerry Craddock), Ashley Browder (Brittany), Amy Parker (Jeremy), and Amanda Parker (Dustin), 9 great grandchildren: Wesley and Caroline Mabe, Tyler, Luke, Michah, Ellie, and Caleb Parker, and Jaxon and Halle Browder, special friend: Sandra Young and a special neighbor: Robert Rutledge.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Michelle Mabe.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Stokes County Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Cathy Shore and her LPN Brittany, and to her caregiver and granddaughter, Michelle Mabe for all of their love, care and compassion shown during Lucy’s illness.
