Mr. Douglas Gray Knouse, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on Nov. 21, 1921, the son of the late John E. and Ruth Tesh Knouse. Mr. Knouse served with the 687th Ordinances Ammunitions Company during World War II. He was a devoted and faithful member of Crestwood Baptist Church and retired from National Garages of Winston-Salem. He was preceded in death by a brother, G.R. Knouse, and a sister, Edna Brown. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Audrey Cromer Knouse of the home; daughter, Janet K. Walser of Pfafftown; stepdaughter, Wanda Brooks (Doug) of Midway; and several cousins.

Mrs. Audrey Cromer Knouse, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County on May 7, 1926 to the late Irvin Baxter and Reba Tuttle Cromer. Mrs. Knouse was a faithful member of Crestwood Baptist Church as long as health permitted. She will be best remembered by her family and friends for her great cooking. Mrs. Knouse was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 57 years, Douglas Gray Knouse; and sister, Dorothy C. Styers. Surviving are her two daughters, Wanda C. Brooks and husband Doug of Midway, and Janet K. Walser of Pfafftown; one sister, Lenola 'Diddy' Rynn of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Billy Ray Cromer and wife Mavareen, and Norris Baxter Cromer and wife Rachel, both of Winston-Salem; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
