Sweet Omie Allen Nov. 1, 1928 ~ Aug. 26, 2011 Mrs. Sweet Omie Allen, 82, died Friday evening, August 26, 2011 at the Lutheran Home of Winston-Salem. She was born November 1, 1928 in Stokes County to Martin and Dora Lawson Brown. Mrs. Allen was a member of Palmyra United Methodist Church. She retired from Hanes Hosiery with 40 years of service. A 2 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Burroughs Chapel with Rev. Sarah Smith and Rev. Jack Danley officiating. Burial will follow at Palmyra United Methodist Church Cemetery. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Willis Brown, William Brown and Gibson Brown. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Stephen Lewis Allen of the home; one son, Michael Lewis Allen of Walnut Cove; and one sister, Leomie Smith of Winston-Salem.
