Note on Wife: Barbara Ann KNIGHT
Barbara was born on January 6, 1943 in Forsyth County to the late John Boyd “JB” and Mary Jane Brown Knight. She was a member at Palmyra United Methodist Church and was a graduate of Walnut Cove High School. Barbara was retired from Piedmont Advantage Credit Union where she served as branch manager for 24 years. She also worked for Hennis Freight Lines. Barbara was a Godly woman as well as a great cook. She was the best at crimping the church chicken pies. She loved her family especially her grandson, and all of her nieces and nephews. Barbara stated she never had a dull moment in her 60 years of marriage to Larry.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her 2 step brothers, Wayne Shelton and Joseph “Pete” Shelton; step father, Ben Shelton; and a step sister, Sue Smith.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Larry W. Young; 2 children, Jeff Young and Robin Bodenhamer; grandson, Connor Young; 3 brothers, John Knight (Mary Jo), Ronnie Knight (Cheryl), and Mike Shelton (Kathy); a sister, Maxine Brown (Eugene); and 2 sister in laws, Bessie Shelton and Jean Young.
There will be a 2:30 pm funeral service held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Burroughs Chapel with Pastor Kevin Jasper officiating. Burial will follow at Palmyra United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 1-2:30 pm at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Social distancing guidelines will be observed, and facial coverings are required.
